Welcome



General Foods Kitchens Cookbook, Random House, 1959.

This blog is born out of a collection of old cookbooks and a facination with the photos, food, table settings, people, etc. found therein.

*Special Baked Beans and Frankfurters
*Buttered Rolls
*Vegtable Relishes
*Pickles
*Welcome Cake (recipe below)
*Fruit
*coffee
*milk

Welcome Cake
2 egg whites, unbeaten
Dash of salt
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 tsp. almond extract (optional)
1 baked 13x9x" yellow cake, white, or devil's food cake, cooled
1/2 cup flaked coconut
1/4 cup chocolate chips
1 tbsp. milk

Beat egg whites and salt until foamy. Add sugar, 2 tbsps. at a time, beating after each addition until sugar is blended. Then continue beating until mixture will stand in peaks. Add flavoring and blend.

Boy, times have changed.
